If you’re an employee whose Provident Fund (PF) is deducted every month, here’s some important news for you.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made significant improvements to the advance withdrawal process, making it faster and more efficient.
Faster Claim Settlements and Higher Withdrawal Limit
One major update is that 60% of advance withdrawal claims are now settled through an automated system.
This year alone, 2.16 crore claims have been processed, a huge increase from the 89.52 lakh claims processed last year.
Additionally, the limit for advance withdrawals has been raised to Rs 1 lakh, making it easier for members to access their funds when needed.
Simplified Claim Process and Online Updates
To speed up claim processing, EPFO has automated claims for medical emergencies, housing, education, and marriage expenses. Now, claims related to these issues are settled within just three days.
Moreover, EPFO has introduced a new feature that lets members with an Aadhaar-verified Universal Account Number (UAN) update their details online, without needing EPFO approval.
As a result, 96% of such updates can be done online, reducing the need for in-person visits.
Lastly, over 99% of claims are now filed digitally, and as of March 2025, 7.14 crore claims have been submitted online.
This shift to a digital system has reduced paperwork and increased overall efficiency.
Plus, Aadhaar-verified UAN holders no longer need employer verification for transfer claims, making the process even smoother.
