Big Change in Postal Services from September 1

The Postal Department has announced a major update. Starting September 1, 2025, registered post and speed post services will be merged.

This means all domestic registered posts will now be sent as speed post. This change will be implemented nationwide.

Why Is This Change Happening?

The main aim of this move is to simplify postal services, improve the tracking system, and provide better services to customers.

Currently, speed post focuses on fast delivery, while registered post is known for safe delivery. Since both offer similar services, they are being combined into one.

What Will Change After the Merger?

Registered post labels will be discontinued.

All domestic mail will now be processed through the speed post system.

Features like proof of delivery and receiver’s signature (earlier in registered post) will now be available as value-added services in speed post.

Speed post already has a better real-time tracking system, so customers will be able to track their parcels more efficiently.
