Cases of cyber fraud are rising rapidly across the country.

Fraudsters are constantly finding new ways to cheat people. Recently, scams have also started in the name of Indian Railways.

Because of this, the Railways has issued an alert for passengers and citizens.

According to the warning, some fraudsters are pretending to be railway officials and contacting people through phone calls, SMS, and WhatsApp messages.

They often ask for bank account details or OTP by claiming it is needed for some railway-related process.

However, the Railways has clearly stated that no officer or employee ever asks for bank details or OTP over the phone.

If you receive such a call or message, it is completely fake.

Many people panic or act quickly without thinking. In such situations, they share personal details, and within minutes their bank accounts can be emptied.

This is why it is very important to stay alert and never trust suspicious calls or messages.

How These Railway Scams Work

Fraudsters use different excuses to trap people.

In some cases, they say your train ticket has been cancelled and you need to share bank details to get a refund.

Sometimes they claim that a payment from the Railways is pending and needs to be processed.

In other cases, people are contacted with fake offers of railway jobs or contracts.

These calls often sound convincing, which makes many people believe them.

The Most Dangerous Part of the Scam

During these conversations, fraudsters ask for sensitive details such as bank account numbers, debit card numbers, CVV codes, and OTPs.

As soon as a person shares this information, the scammers quickly withdraw money from the bank account.

Many people have already lost their hard-earned savings within just a few minutes because of such frauds.

This is why authorities are repeatedly warning citizens to stay cautious and never share banking details with anyone over phone calls or messages.
