In India, major banks like SBI, PNB, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank offer locker facilities. However, the locker rent varies from bank to bank.
The rent mainly depends on the size of the locker and the branch location—whether it’s in a city or a village.
In this comparison, we’re looking at the locker charges for 2025 from four major banks. Please note that this comparison includes only urban and metro branches, not rural ones.
SBI (State Bank of India)
SBI locker charges depend on both the location and size of the locker. A one-time registration fee is also applicable.
Registration Fee:
Small/Medium: ₹500 + GST
Large/Extra Large: ₹1,000 + GST
Annual Locker Rent (Urban/Metro Branches):
Small: ₹2,000 + GST
Medium: ₹4,000 + GST
Large: ₹8,000 + GST
Extra Large: ₹12,000 + GST
PNB (Punjab National Bank)
PNB adds a 25% premium on locker rent in metro branches. If you close the locker early and have paid in advance, the extra amount is refunded based on the yearly rate.

Annual Locker Rent (Urban/Metro Branches):
Small: ₹2,000
Medium: ₹3,500
Large: ₹5,500
Very Large: ₹8,000
Extra Large: ₹10,000
HDFC Bank
Locker charges in HDFC can differ slightly from branch to branch. GST is added separately.

ICICI Bank
Locker charges in ICICI vary by branch and are considered among the highest. You need to pay the rent in advance.
Annual Locker Rent (Metro Branches):

Medium: ₹7,500
Large: ₹13,000
Extra Large: ₹20,000–₹22,000.
