For a long time, people in Bengaluru have faced issues with auto fares—whether it’s bargaining with drivers or paying high prices on app-based services.
But a new service called Nagara Auto aims to fix this by bringing back the old system of metered rides, where passengers only pay the exact fare shown on the meter—nothing extra.
Tejasvi Surya Supports the Initiative
Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya recently praised this move on X, saying, “Remember the good old days when Bengaluru autos ran by the meter? @NagaraAuto is bringing that back.”
He pointed out that there are no hidden charges or commissions. Commuters will simply pay the government-fixed meter fare directly to the driver.
The Tech Behind Nagara Auto
The app has been built by Agnibu Technologies and Brand Pride Mobility. Once a ride is booked, the app connects users to autos that strictly follow the official meter fare.
To help passengers easily spot these autos, they come with a special rooftop sign that glows at night, making them easy to identify and trust.
Led by Young Entrepreneurs
Nagara Auto is led by young founders Niru Aradhyan and Shivanna, who want to solve a major city issue—first and last-mile connectivity, especially for metro users.
Their goal is to make travel cheaper, more transparent, and also ensure auto drivers get full payment without losing money to middlemen or commissions.
Growing Numbers and Future Plans
Since launching last year, over 1,500 auto drivers have joined Nagara Auto, and the team is planning to expand further.
With a focus on fair pricing, convenience, and trust, the app hopes to become a long-term solution in Bengaluru’s busy transport system.
Why This Matters
This new platform comes at a time when many Bengaluru residents are unhappy with rising travel costs and unreliable transport options.
By bringing back the simple idea of meter-based auto rides, Nagara Auto could help improve trust between drivers and passengers and create a better transport experience for the city.
