Banks Must Inform customers Before Disconnecting FASTag

No bank can now disconnect a customer’s FASTag account or service without informing them first.

If a customer faces any issue while uploading documents, the concerned bank must contact the customer

and help them complete the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process before taking any action.

Customers can also contact their issuing bank for any KYC-related issues, file complaints, or ask questions through the National Highways Helpline (1033).

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the KYC process for FASTag users to make it easier and more convenient.

The Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) issued the new guidelines on Thursday.

According to the update, FASTag services will not be stopped for vehicles with pending compliance.

Customers will also get enough time to finish their KYC process, and banks will send SMS reminders to help them complete it.

Simplified Photo and Verification Rules

Under the new rules, customers no longer need to upload a side photo of their car, jeep, or van. Only a front photo showing the number plate and FASTag is required.

When users enter their vehicle number, chassis number, or mobile number, the system will automatically fetch the RC details.

If multiple vehicles are linked to the same mobile number, customers can choose the one for which they wish to complete the KYV process.

FASTags Will Remain Valid Longer

To ensure uninterrupted service, previously issued FASTags will stay valid and do not need frequent replacement.

They will only be replaced if there is a complaint of damage, loosening, or misuse.
