Bank of Baroda Update: If you’re a Bank of Baroda (BoB) customer, your cheque might not get cleared unless you follow a new rule.
BoB has changed its policy, and if you don’t inform the bank as required, your cheque won’t be processed. This could delay your payments or transfers.
To improve cheque security and reduce fraud, Bank of Baroda has lowered the limit for mandatory use of the Positive Pay System.
Earlier, it applied only to cheques of ₹5 lakh or more. Now, you must use it for cheques of ₹2 lakh or more.
What Is the Positive Pay System?
The Positive Pay System was introduced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on January 1, 2021.
Under this system, before a cheque is cleared, the issuer must provide the bank with key details like:
Cheque number
Date
Amount
Beneficiary name
The bank uses this information to verify the cheque and reduce the chances of fraud.
When Will the New Rule Apply?
Bank of Baroda will roll out the new rule in three phases:
From May 1, 2025: Mandatory for cheques of ₹4 lakh or more
From August 1, 2025: Mandatory for cheques of ₹3 lakh or more
From November 1, 2025: Mandatory for cheques of ₹2 lakh or more
How to Send Positive Pay Information
BoB has made it easy for customers to submit cheque details through multiple methods:
Mobile Banking (Baroda M-Connect Plus)
Net Banking (BOB iBanking)
Bank Branch
SMS
Call Center
WhatsApp Banking
Bank’s Official Website
Make sure you send the cheque details before handing it over to avoid clearance issues.

Why This Is Important
If you issue a cheque of ₹2 lakh or more after the new dates, Positive Pay confirmation will be mandatory.
Skipping this step can cause your cheque to be rejected or delayed. Providing this confirmation will ensure your money is safe and help prevent fraud.
