If you have any urgent banking tasks, next week could be tricky.
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list, the week from December 8th to 14th will be shorter in many states.
Banks will be closed for four days in some states, while in others, services will be unavailable for two days due to Saturday and Sunday closures.
This affects all banks, including SBI, PNB, HDFC, and ICICI, so it’s important to plan your banking activities in advance.
State-wise Bank Holidays
Kerala – December 9: Banks will remain closed due to local body elections in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and other parts of Kerala.
Banking operations will continue as usual in the rest of the country.
Meghalaya – December 12: A government holiday is observed on the martyrdom day of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma, a respected freedom fighter from the Garo community.
All banks in Meghalaya will remain closed.
Nationwide – December 13 & 14: Banks across India will remain closed on December 13 (second Saturday) and December 14 (Sunday), resulting in a two-day nationwide closure.
Why You Should Complete Banking Tasks Early
The extended closures, especially in Kerala and Meghalaya, may delay:
Passbook updates
Check clearances
Draft processing
Other branch-based services
To avoid disruption, it’s better to complete important transactions early in the week, before the holidays begin.
