Bangalore Leads in Fresh Hiring; Youth Should Focus on These Sectors

Bengaluru is the most optimistic city for hiring freshers in the Global Competence Center (GCC) sector.

Around 17% of companies there expect over 50% growth, showing a stronger hiring trend than other cities in 2025, a report said on Monday.

According to NLB Services, IT sector recruitment has grown by 4% year-on-year so far in 2025 compared to last year.

Focus on Entry-Level Talent

Sachin Alug, CEO of NLB Services, said, “Indian companies are focusing more on entry-level talent to meet new industry needs driven by automation, cyber-security, cloud transformation, and more.

Companies are not only filling vacancies but also investing in freshers to build a workforce ready for the future.”

Top Sectors for Freshers

The IT hardware and software sector is leading hiring, nearly doubling from 17% in 2024 to 34% in 2025. Other sectors growing are FMCG (16%), insurance (15%), and pharma (11%).

Salary Expectations

Freshers joining IT can expect packages between Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh per year, depending on skills and job roles.

For example, software developers typically earn Rs 2.8 lakh to Rs 8.2 lakh annually, while web developers earn between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 8 lakh.

Growth in Non-Metro Cities

Tier 2 and 3 cities are also growing fast, offering new opportunities in IT and non-IT fields.

Cities like Mysore, Gandhinagar, Visakhapatnam, Indore, Lucknow, Kochi, Jaipur, and Vijayawada are expanding quickly.

Coimbatore, Indore, Udaipur, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, and Chandigarh are becoming IT hubs, with fresher salaries from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh per year—sometimes higher than in metros.

Additionally, Nashik, Salem, and Vadodara are becoming popular GCC locations.

Companies in India’s GCC sector continue to grow, focusing strongly on young talent and diversity.

The report says as GCCs expand worldwide with digital transformation and automation, demand for young professionals will rise rapidly in the coming years.
