Under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), citizens aged 70 years or above will now get free treatment up to ₹5 lakh every year.
This benefit is available through a new card called the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card, which can now be created using the Ayushman App.
The government has taken this step to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for India’s elderly population.
What is the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card?
This is a special health ID card launched under the Ayushman Bharat scheme by the Government of India.
It allows all Indian citizens aged 70 or more to get cashless treatment up to ₹5 lakh per year in selected government and private hospitals across the country.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme, launched in 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is the world’s largest government health insurance program.
Who is Eligible?
To apply for the card, you must:
Be an Indian citizen aged 70 years or more
Have a valid Aadhaar card
Have a mobile number linked to Aadhaar
There is no income limit. Whether you’re rich or poor, if you’re 70 or older, you’re eligible.

How to Apply
You can apply in two ways: via mobile app or the official website.
1. Apply Through Ayushman App
Download the Ayushman App from the Google Play Store
Select ‘Login as Beneficiary’
Enter your mobile number and captcha, verify via OTP
Click on ‘Enrollment for 70+’
Enter your Aadhaar number and complete e-KYC
Upload your photo and fill in the required details
Submit the form
Your card will be ready to download within minutes
2. Apply Through the Website
Visit https://pmjay.gov.in
Login using your mobile number and captcha
Select ‘Enrollment for Senior Citizens (70+)’
Enter Aadhaar number, complete e-KYC (via OTP or biometric)
Fill in the details, upload a live photo, and give consent
Submit the application
The card will be ready for download within 15–20 minutes
