If you often withdraw cash from ATMs, this update is important for you.
From April 1, withdrawing money may become more expensive as several banks have changed their ATM rules.
Banks like HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Bandhan Bank have announced new limits, charges, and usage rules.
These changes can directly affect your monthly expenses.
ATM Withdrawals to Become Costlier
From next month, banks will start charging more if you cross the free transaction limit.
Customers will need to pay attention to how many times they use ATMs in a month.
Once the free limit is crossed, extra charges will apply on every withdrawal.
Big Change for HDFC Bank Customers
HDFC Bank has made a major change in how ATM transactions are counted.
Now, UPI-based cash withdrawals at ATMs will also be included in the monthly free transaction limit.
Earlier, these were counted separately.
If you exceed the free limit, you will have to pay ₹23 per withdrawal (excluding taxes).
Currently, most customers get:
5 free transactions at HDFC Bank ATMs
3 free transactions at other bank ATMs in metro cities
5 free transactions in non-metro cities
So now, both regular and UPI withdrawals will be counted together.
Changes for PNB Customers
Punjab National Bank has reduced daily withdrawal limits for some debit cards.
From April 1, customers will be able to withdraw:
₹50,000 to ₹75,000 per day depending on the card
For example, the RuPay NCMC Platinum card limit has been reduced from ₹1 lakh to ₹50,000.
Similar changes apply to other card types as well.
Bandhan Bank New Rules
Bandhan Bank has also updated its ATM usage rules.
Customers will now get:
5 free financial transactions at Bandhan Bank ATMs
Unlimited non-financial transactions at their own ATMs
For other bank ATMs:
3 free transactions in metro cities
5 free transactions in non-metro cities
After crossing the limit, charges will be:
₹23 per financial transaction
₹10 per non-financial transaction
If a transaction fails due to low balance, a penalty of ₹25 will be charged.
What You Should Do
With these new rules, it is important to track your ATM usage carefully.
Try to stay within the free limit and avoid unnecessary withdrawals.
Also, keep in mind that UPI-based ATM withdrawals will now be counted along with regular transactions.
Planning your withdrawals smartly can help you avoid extra charges and save money.
