Apple Releases iOS 17.1 Beta 3 Update : What’s New and Fixed

Apple has just rolled out the iOS 17.1 Beta 3, coming a week after the release of iOS 17.1 Beta 2.

As of now, it’s available to members of Apple’s Developer program eligible for beta updates, while other users will have to wait for the stable version, expected to launch globally by month-end.

Key Enhancements in iOS 17.1 Beta 3:

Action Button Upgrade: One of the significant changes in Beta 3 revolves around the Action Button.

This update seeks to prevent unintended activation of certain functions when an iPhone is in a pocket or bag.

Specifically, the Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo, Focus, and Magnifier functions will no longer trigger via the Action Button when the iPhone is not in an open, accessible state.

This adjustment aims to avoid accidental battery drain caused by inadvertent button presses.

Fix for Wallet App: The built-in Wallet app has been updated to address crashes that some users encountered in previous iOS 17.1 Beta 1 and Beta 2 versions, ensuring smoother operation.

Preventing Accidental Activation in Pockets and Bags:

Despite requiring a long press, the Action Button in prior versions inadvertently triggered functions like Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo, Focus, and Magnifier, especially when the iPhone was in a pocket or bag.

With iOS 17.1 Beta 3, these specific functions will no longer activate in such scenarios. It’s important to note that other functions like mute and shortcuts can still be activated within the pocket.

This update solely prevents actions initiated from the Action Button, preserving the individual activation of these functions if desired.

Modem Power Allowance for iPhone 12 Models in France:

Apple has introduced a new feature in compliance with France’s SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) testing regulations.

This feature limits the modem’s power allowance for iPhone 12 models in France.

While this change exclusively affects iPhone 12 models in France and may result in a minor decrease in reception quality when the device is idle, no other significant differences are expected.

As iOS 17.1 Beta 3 continues to evolve, Apple aims to fine-tune user experiences, addressing issues and enhancing functionality for a more seamless and user-friendly mobile experience.
