Apple Rejects Meta’s Llama AI for iPhones

California :

Apple has dealt a significant blow to Meta by rejecting their offer to integrate the Llama chatbot into mobile devices under an AI partnership.

According to a Bloomberg report, discussions between the two companies took place in March this year regarding the inclusion of the Llama AI chatbot in iPhones.

However, the deal was not finalized. Currently, Apple is not considering integrating Meta’s AI into its devices.

Partnership with OpenAI and Google

Apple’s decision to reject Meta’s offer is believed to be influenced by its ongoing partnerships with OpenAI and Google.

Apple has been in contact with both companies for several days, discussing the potential inclusion of Google’s Gemini AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT in its devices.

The deal with OpenAI has been finalized, and Apple may soon announce a partnership with Google for the Gemini AI.

Reasons Behind Apple’s Rejection

While there is no official statement from Apple regarding the rejection of Meta’s offer, sources suggest that privacy concerns and initial criticisms of Llama played a role.

Apple was reportedly unimpressed with the privacy features of Meta’s AI.

Consequently, the likelihood of Llama being integrated into iPhones was low from the start.

Apple’s Future AI Plans

According to the report, Apple considers ChatGPT superior to Meta’s AI.

Additionally, Apple’s relationship with Google, bolstered by the Safari browser, makes the integration of Gemini AI and ChatGPT into iPhones unsurprising.

Furthermore, Apple is excited about its AI startup, Anthropic, which is expected to be offered in Apple devices in the future.
