Apple is taking a big step to strengthen its presence in India by investing directly in skill development.

The company has announced a new education hub and expanded training programmes for supplier employees across the country.

This move shows Apple’s long-term focus on building a skilled workforce in regions where it has strong manufacturing operations, with India playing a central role.

Apple Launches Education Hub in India

Apple has set up a dedicated education hub in partnership with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

The hub will start offering courses from March and is designed especially for supplier employees.

The focus is on hands-on learning.

Employees will learn new tools and practical skills that can help them perform better in their day-to-day factory roles.

Focus on Practical Skills and Career Growth

Apple said the training will cover areas like digital literacy and Swift coding.

These skills are meant to support both personal development and long-term career growth for workers.

The collaboration also encourages direct interaction between educators and trainees, making learning more effective and job-focused.

Courses and Training Rollout Plan

Faculty members from MAHE will first train supplier instructors.

These instructors will then pass on the knowledge to employees at different manufacturing locations.

The programme will begin with Tata Electronics and later expand to other Apple suppliers.

According to Apple, the courses will be available at more than 25 supplier sites across India.

Training areas include digital skills, Swift programming, robotics, automation technology, and smart manufacturing practices.

Apple’s $50 Million Supplier Development Fund

This initiative is part of Apple’s global Supplier Employee Development Fund, which is valued at $50 million.

The fund supports education and skill-building programmes for workers in multiple countries.

As the programme expands, Apple plans to offer over 75 different courses for supplier employees in India.

Expansion of Robotics Training in India

Apple also shared updates on its robotics training programme, which was first launched in 2024.

After receiving positive feedback, the company has decided to expand it further this year.

Under this programme, factory workers will receive training at robotics labs.

Apple’s educators will customise the training material and conduct detailed sessions at company facilities to ensure workers gain in-depth knowledge.

Through these efforts, Apple is clearly aiming to build a stronger, more skilled workforce in India while supporting long-term growth in its manufacturing ecosystem.
