Apple has launched the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus in India and other global markets.
Alongside, Apple also introduced the iPhone 16 Pro lineup and Apple Watch Series 10.
Both models are powered by the new A18 chipset and come with innovative features, including a new capture button that instantly opens the camera app and action buttons.
The phones run on iOS 18 and support Apple’s AI-based Apple Intelligence.
Both models feature a Super Retina XDR OLED display and are built to an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 16 starts at $799 (around Rs 67,000) for the 128GB base model, while the iPhone 16 Plus is priced at $899 (around Rs 75,500) for its 128GB base model.
Both models are also available in 256GB and 512GB variants.
Pre-orders for these devices will start on September 13, with sales beginning on September 20.
Key Specifications and Features
Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus run on iOS 18 and are equipped with the new octa-core A18 chipset.
They also feature the Apple Intelligence (AI) system, enhancing performance and enabling support for high-end games like “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” and “Resident Evil.”
The iPhone 16 offers a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the iPhone 16 Plus has a larger 6.7-inch display, both protected by Apple’s Ceramic Shield and supporting up to 2000 nits of peak brightness.
The new models come with a triple rear camera setup.
The main camera is a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens with an f/1.6 aperture and 2x in-sensor zoom, accompanied by a 12-megapixel 2x telephoto lens with an f/1.6 aperture, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens.
This combination is termed the Fusion Camera System, and it also includes features for reducing wind noise and background noise through machine learning.
A 12-megapixel TrueDepth front camera is provided for selfies and video calls.
Innovative Features and Connectivity Options
Both iPhone 16 models include a new capture button that opens the camera app with a single push, while pressing it in the app takes a photo, and a long press records video.
An additional action button is also provided.
The phones feature a USB Type-C port and support a range of connectivity options, including 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC.
However, Apple has not disclosed the RAM and battery capacity for these models.
