Apple has launched a new version of its item tracker called AirTag 2. The new AirTag comes with several hardware upgrades that make tracking lost items easier and more accurate.

AirTag 2 uses Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip, the same chip found in the iPhone 17, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch Series 11.

Thanks to this upgrade, the Precision Finding range has increased by 50%. It also uses haptic, visual, and audio cues to guide users to their lost items more clearly.

Louder Speaker and Improved Connectivity

The new AirTag features an upgraded Bluetooth chip, which improves connectivity and extends the tracking range.

Apple has also made the internal speaker 50% louder, making it easier to hear alert sounds even when the AirTag is hidden under furniture or inside a bag.

In addition, Precision Finding is now supported on Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or newer models. This allows users to locate their items directly from their Apple Watch, without using an iPhone.

New Location Sharing and Airline Support

Along with hardware improvements, Apple has expanded the Share Item Location feature. Users can now securely share the location of their AirTag with trusted third parties, such as airline staff.

Apple says more than 50 airlines have joined this program. According to early data from SITA, this feature has helped reduce baggage delays by 26% and lost luggage cases by 90%.

Price and Availability

The new AirTags are priced the same as before:

Single AirTag: ₹3,790

Pack of four: ₹12,900

Apple also offers free personalized engraving on online orders. The FineWoven keyring accessory is sold separately for ₹3,900.

To use AirTag 2, users need an iPhone with iOS 26 or later or an iPad with iPadOS 26, with the Find My feature enabled.
