Following the recent GST rate changes, companies have started passing on the benefits to customers.
On Saturday, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which sells products under the Amul brand, announced a price reduction on over 700 product packs.
These include ghee, butter, ice cream, bakery items, and frozen snacks.
The new prices will be effective from September 22, 2025.
GCMMF said this move ensures customers get the full benefit of the GST cut.
Details of Price Cuts
According to the federation, the price reduction covers products like butter, ghee, UHT milk, paneer, ice cream, chocolates, bakery items, frozen dairy and potato snacks, condensed milk, peanut spread, and malt-based beverages.
The maximum retail price (MRP) of butter (100g) has been reduced from ₹62 to ₹58.
The price of ghee has dropped by ₹40, now at ₹610 per liter.
The MRP of Amul processed cheese block (1 kg) has been reduced by ₹30 to ₹545 per kg.
The frozen paneer (200g) pack is now priced at ₹95, down from ₹99.
More Benefits for Consumers
Amul stated that this price revision will encourage higher consumption of dairy products like ice cream, paneer, and butter, since per capita consumption of these products in India is still very low.
Earlier, Mother Dairy had also announced a similar price cut on its products, effective from September 22.
