Amit Shah Launches Faster Immigration at 5 Airports (Full List & How to Register)

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday launched the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) at five more airports in India.

This programme is designed to speed up immigration for pre-verified Indian citizens and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.

“With the launch of FTI-TTP, smooth and quick immigration services will now be available at these airports starting today,” Shah said.

He added that the programme not only improves convenience for travellers but also helps strengthen national security.

The FTI-TTP was first introduced at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in July 2024.

Two months later, it expanded to seven major airports — Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad.

Now, it has been rolled out at five more airports:

  • Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode (Kerala)

  • Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu)

  • Amritsar (Punjab)

Speaking at the event, Shah said the facility not only improves the travel experience but also offers a chance to showcase India’s progress to visitors.

He said the next step in making travel smoother, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of speed, scale, and scope, begins with this programme.

Shah also urged immigration and airport authorities to work towards enabling FTI-TTP registration at the time of issuing passports or OCI cards.

“If this happens, travellers won’t need to come back for fingerprinting or additional paperwork. They’ll be able to use their passport for travel without extra steps,” he explained.

So far, around 3 lakh travellers have signed up for the programme, and 2.65 lakh of them have already used the fast-track service.

To join the programme, travellers must register online at http://ftittp.mha.gov.in. They need to fill out their details and upload the required documents.

Biometric information is collected either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or during airport transit.

At the airport, registered travellers just need to scan their boarding pass and passport at the e-Gate to proceed.

The United States also runs a similar programme through US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), offering fast-track immigration for low-risk, pre-approved travellers.
