Government airline Alliance Air has introduced a major initiative to relieve passengers from fluctuating flight ticket prices.
Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu launched the new scheme called ‘Fare Se Fursat’, under which ticket prices will remain fixed regardless of the booking date or travel date.
This means even last-minute tickets will cost the same as tickets purchased on the first day of sale.
The scheme will be implemented on a pilot basis on selected routes from October 13 to December 31, 2025.
During this period, the government and airline will monitor its success and gather passenger feedback.
End of Price Surprises for Passengers
Currently, most Indian airlines use a dynamic pricing system, where ticket prices change based on demand, season,
and competition. While this benefits airlines, it makes last-minute tickets very expensive.
The ‘Fare Se Fursat’ scheme addresses this problem by ensuring fare transparency and predictability.
Passengers can now plan their travel without worrying about sudden price increases.
Supporting UDAN and Small City Travelers
Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu said this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s UDAN scheme, which aims to make air travel accessible to ordinary and middle-class citizens. He added,
“Alliance Air has set a great example of ‘One Route, One Fare.’ This reflects the vision of ‘Flying a New India,’ which prioritizes public convenience over profit.”
Passengers from tier-2 and tier-3 cities will also benefit. The scheme encourages first-time flyers to choose air travel, as fare fluctuations are no longer a concern.
Better Passenger Experience and Affordable Services
Minister Naidu also highlighted efforts to improve airport facilities. The UDAN Passenger Cafe now offers:
Tea for ₹10
Coffee for ₹20
Snacks for ₹20
He said,
“Our focus is on bringing aviation closer to the people and making it affordable. By eliminating the worry of fares, we are solving one of the biggest problems for travelers.”
Alliance Air’s Current Statistics
According to the DGCA report (August 2025):
Alliance Air carried 37,000 passengers (0.3% of India’s total passenger traffic of 12.9 million).
Load factor: 68.7%
On-time performance (OTP): 55% (lowest among the top five airlines).
As of October 2025, out of 20 aircraft, 8 are operational while 12 are grounded. The new fixed-fare scheme is expected to increase passenger numbers and occupancy.
Pilot Scheme Until December 31
The ‘Fare Se Fursat’ scheme is a trial from October 13 to December 31, 2025. Based on passenger response, it may be adopted permanently.
If successful, it could become India’s first fixed-fare airline policy, setting an example for other airlines.
