Airtel Discontinues Two Popular Prepaid Plans

Airtel has once again disappointed its millions of customers by quietly removing two popular prepaid plans priced under ₹200.

Because of this change, users will now have to pay more for benefits that were earlier available at a lower cost.

This move also indicates that the company is preparing to increase tariffs.

Over the past few months, several reports have suggested that Airtel is working to boost its ARPU (Average Revenue Per User Per Month).

Which Plans Have Been Removed?

Airtel has removed two data-only prepaid plans—₹121 and ₹181—from both its app and website.

These plans offered only data and came with 30-day validity. With their discontinuation, budget users now have very few affordable options left.

What Plans Are Available Now?

Airtel has replaced the discontinued plans with newer data packs. At present, the company offers:

₹100 plan: 6GB data, 30-day validity, and access to 20+ OTT apps including SonyLIV.

₹161 plan: 12GB data with 30-day validity.

₹195 plan: 12GB data plus a JioHotstar subscription.

₹361 plan: 50GB data with 30-day validity.

Airtel’s Growth in Subscriber Base

As per TRAI’s October 2025 report, India’s telecom sector continues to grow steadily.

The country now has 1,231 million telephone connections, including 1,184 million mobile users and 46 million wireline connections.

Airtel added 1.252 million new users in October alone.

Its total subscriber base has increased from 392.4 million in September to 393.6 million in October, further strengthening its position as India’s second-largest telecom operator with more premium customers joining the network.
