AirIndia Express makes Emergency Landing at Bengaluru Airport due to Engine Fire

A serious incident was avoided at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Saturday when the engine of an Air India Express flight bound for Kochi caught fire immediately after takeoff.

The passengers on the plane were panicked after witnessing the engine fire incident.

It’s worth mentioning that there were 179 passengers onboard. Following the engine fire, the plane had to make a quick landing back at KIA airport.

It’s important to note that a full-scale emergency was declared at Bengaluru Airport after the engine fire incident.

Chaos among the people ensued only after the airport announced the emergency.

Lives of 179 passengers and 6 crew members were saved

Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) operates Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), which is the third busiest airport in the country.

BIAL stated that Flight IX 1132 made an emergency landing at the airport at 11:12 pm following an engine fire incident.

Following this incident, a full-scale emergency was declared at the airport. However, the fire was extinguished as soon as the plane landed.

All 179 passengers and 6 crew members onboard the aircraft were safely evacuated.

Plane Engine fire

Air India Express issued a statement regarding the aircraft engine fire incident.

The statement mentioned that the right engine of the plane caught fire. The plane returned to Bengaluru due to suspicious flames, as per Air India Express’s press release.

The press release mentioned that a precautionary landing was made after the fire.

The ground service reported flames coming from the engine, prompting a hurried landing.

After safely evacuating the passengers from the plane, the fire was extinguished.
