Commuters in metro cities often face traffic jams, with crowded metro trains, buses, and taxis.
However, soon, you will be able to avoid the traffic while heading to work. A new option to cover a distance of 20-25 km in the air is on the way.
This is not a dream, but a reality. Aerospace startup Sarla Aviation has unveiled its air taxi prototype, named ‘Shunya,’ at the Startup Maha Kumbh event.
This flying taxi will carry up to 6 passengers at a time and is set to begin operations by 2028.
The company plans to launch this air taxi service in Bengaluru first, with plans to expand to other cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Noida, and Pune.
The ‘Shunya’ can travel up to 160 km in a single flight, but initially, it will operate on short distances of 20-30 km.
It will fly at a speed of 250 km per hour and will be ready for the next flight just 20 minutes after charging.
Service Launch by 2028
Sarla Aviation aims to start air taxi services in 2028 and is actively expanding its team to meet this goal. Once launched in Bengaluru, the service will expand to other major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Noida, and Pune.
The company plans to keep the fares of these flying taxis comparable to premium rides from services like Ola and Uber, so they remain affordable for the general public.
In addition to passenger transport, the company also plans to offer free air ambulance services for medical emergencies in urban areas.
