Following recent disruptions, Air India, Vistara, and IndiGo are set to resume their scheduled flights to Dhaka starting Wednesday.
This comes after a period of uncertainty due to protests in Bangladesh.
Flight Operations Resumed
Air India
Scheduled flights from Delhi to Dhaka will resume on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Air India operated a chartered flight to evacuate 205 people, including six infants, from Dhaka to New Delhi.
IndiGo
The airline also conducted a special flight on Tuesday from Dhaka to Kolkata, bringing back over 200 Indian nationals. IndiGo’s normal operations between India and Dhaka are set to resume on Wednesday. The airline has contacted affected customers to offer updates and alternative travel arrangements.
Vistara
Vistara will resume its scheduled flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Dhaka on Wednesday. The airline had previously canceled flights on Tuesday due to the volatile situation.
Context of Disruptions
Bangladesh has recently experienced significant unrest, including widespread protests against a job quota scheme that escalated into a broader movement demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Hasina resigned on Monday after 15 years in power, further contributing to the turbulence.
Flight Schedules
Air India will operate its usual two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka starting Wednesday.
Vistara typically offers daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly flights from Delhi to Dhaka.
IndiGo operates daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai to Dhaka, and two daily flights from Kolkata.
