Air India Flight from Ahmedabad to London Cancelled Due to Technical Fault

A scheduled Air India flight (AI 159) from Ahmedabad to London was cancelled on Tuesday, 17 June, after a technical fault was discovered just before takeoff.

The aircraft had arrived from New Delhi and was preparing for its onward journey when the issue was detected.

This marks the second such incident on the Ahmedabad–London route in recent days, raising serious concerns about flight safety and aircraft maintenance.

Tragic Crash on 12 June: 241 Dead, 1 Survivor

Earlier, on 12 June, another Air India flight (AI171) crashed near Ahmedabad airport, shortly after takeoff.

The crash killed 241 people on board, including passengers and crew. The only survivor was Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, a British citizen of Indian origin, seated on 11A.

Among the victims were 168 Indians, 53 British, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian. The flight also included former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and five medical college students, who were among the deceased.

IndiGo Bomb Threat Forces Emergency Landing

On the same day, an IndiGo flight (6E 2706) traveling from Kochi to Delhi made an emergency landing in Nagpur following a bomb threat.

The plane had already taken off when the threat was received. Airport officials, police, and fire services were put on alert, and the aircraft landed safely.

Multiple Aircraft Incidents in Just 36 Hours

In the past 36 hours, at least five major in-flight emergencies have been reported across flights from India, UK, and Germany, causing panic among passengers:

A British fighter jet made an emergency landing in Kerala due to low fuel.

A Lufthansa flight to Hyderabad returned to Frankfurt following a bomb threat.

The IndiGo flight from Kochi landed in Nagpur due to another bomb threat.

An Air India flight from Hong Kong to Delhi had to turn back mid-air due to suspected technical issues.

An Air India Express flight returned to Delhi mid-flight due to technical problems.

Another Air India Flight Delayed in Kolkata

In a separate incident, Air India flight AI180 from San Francisco to Mumbai, during a stopover at Kolkata, was delayed after a technical fault in its left engine.

The plane had landed at 1:45 am on Monday night. All passengers were deboarded safely.

These repeated failures n such a short span have triggered questions about the safety standards and technical readiness of aircraft, especially those operated by Indian carriers.
