Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Helpline Numbers and Control Rooms Set Up by Air India & Governments

A major plane crash took place in Gujarat on the afternoon of June 12. An Air India flight headed for London crashed shortly after takeoff in the Meghnani Nagar area, near Ahmedabad airport.

The aircraft had 242 people on board, including 10 crew members. So far, 241 people have been reported dead, and several others are injured.

In response to the incident, Air India has released a helpline number. As per the announcement made on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the passenger helpline number is 1800 5691 444.

Through this number, people can get details related to passengers on the crashed flight. Air India added that it is fully cooperating with the authorities investigating the accident.

Air India confirmed that the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which took off from Ahmedabad for London Gatwick at 1:38 pm, had 242 people on board.

Among them, 169 were Indian citizens, 53 were British, 1 was Canadian, and 7 were Portuguese nationals.

The airline also stated that updates and information will continue to be shared on its X handle https://x.com/airindia and website http://airindia.com.

Civil Aviation Ministry and Ahmedabad Police Also Issue Emergency Contacts

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has set up a special control room to manage the situation.

A statement from the ministry mentioned that, in view of the AI171 crash, an operational control room has been activated to coordinate all details. The helpline numbers are 011-24610843 and 9650391859.

Additionally, the Ahmedabad City Police has also provided a number for emergencies and passenger information. People can call 079-25620359 to get help or updates.

Gujarat Government’s Helpline Numbers

The Gujarat government has also set up a control room at the State Emergency Operation Center to assist people. For information and help, the public can contact 079-23251900 or 9978405304.

The crash occurred around 2 pm, just minutes after takeoff, when the plane came down near the Meghnani Nagar area.

A large cloud of black smoke was seen rising from the site. Emergency response teams quickly arrived and began rescue operations.
