The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has updated the fees for Aadhaar enrolment and update services.
These new rates came into effect on October 1, 2025, and will stay valid until September 30, 2028.
UIDAI has also shared the charges for the next three-year cycle, from October 1, 2028, to September 30, 2031.
The goal of these changes is to make Aadhaar updates smoother and encourage timely biometric updates for children and young adults.
Biometric Updates: Who Pays What
Biometric updates include fingerprint, iris, and photograph updates.
Here’s how the fees work:
Children aged 5–7 years: First mandatory biometric update is free.
Teenagers aged 15–17 years: One free biometric update.
Everyone else: Rs 125 per update during the 2025–2028 cycle.
Special waiver: Children aged 7–15 years get free updates until September 30, 2026.
Next cycle (2028–2031): Fee will increase to Rs 150.
Demographic and Document Updates
Demographic updates cover details like name, gender, date of birth, address, mobile number, or email ID.
When updated with a biometric update, demographic changes remain free.
When done separately, the charge is Rs 75 from October 2025 (up from Rs 50) and Rs 90 from October 2028.
Document updates, such as proof of identity or address, are free on the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026.
After that:
2025–2028 cycle: Rs 75
2028–2031 cycle: Rs 90
Other Services: Search, Print, and Home Enrolment
Aadhaar search and printout: Retrieving Aadhaar and printing it in color costs Rs 40 (2025–2028) and Rs 50 (2028–2031).
New Aadhaar enrolment: Free for all, including children 0–5 years and those above 5.
Home enrolment: Rs 700 for the first resident and Rs 350 for each additional resident at the same address.
UIDAI will also reimburse registrars for successful enrolments and updates, ranging from Rs 75–125 (2025–2028) and Rs 90–150 (2028–2031).
