Aadhaar-based e-KYC and OTP verification are now being strictly enforced for gas cylinder refills.
Oil companies have instructed all gas agencies that every consumer must complete e-KYC.
Along with this, consumers must provide a one-time password (OTP) at the time of delivery.
If the consumer is unable to provide the delivery OTP, the cylinder will not be handed over.
The Food Department stated that consumers were being encouraged for the past 18 months to update their e-KYC, but the response has been poor.
Only 60–65% of consumers have completed the process, which is affecting transparency in cylinder refilling.
Because of this, strict instructions have been issued to enforce e-KYC and the OTP delivery system.
This OTP process will help stop gas black marketing and fraudulent bookings in the future.
Gas Distributors Request Consumers to Update e-KYC
Gas distributors have appealed to all consumers to complete their e-KYC as soon as possible.
They must also provide the OTP to the delivery person when the cylinder arrives. This OTP is sent to the consumer’s registered mobile number during booking.
District Food Officer Kaushal Kishore Sahu said that e-KYC and OTP-based delivery are being made mandatory for all gas consumers.
Consumers who haven’t updated their KYC should visit their gas agency and complete the process soon to avoid issues during cylinder refilling.
KYC of Over 14,000 Women Still Pending
In the district, the KYC of 14,000 women remains incomplete.
They were initially given time until November 15 to update their KYC, but only 5,000 women completed it by the deadline.
The KYC of more than 9,000 women is still pending.
These beneficiaries have now been given another chance to complete their KYC by November 28.
If they fail to update it, funds may not be credited to their bank accounts.
