CRCS Sahara Refund Portal has been restored, bringing relief to thousands of depositors waiting for their refund claims to be processed.
The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) has resumed verification and processing of pending claims.
The move is important for depositors whose applications were stuck due to operational and technical issues affecting the refund mechanism.
CRCS Sahara Refund Portal Resumes Claims Processing
According to the Ministry of Cooperation, around 20 lakh applications are still pending for processing. With the portal restored, verification and settlement of these claims have started again.
So far, Rs 9,267 crore has been refunded to 41,56,711 depositors.
The refund amount is transferred directly to the depositor’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account after successful verification.
The refund mechanism covers genuine depositors of four Sahara Group cooperative societies — Sahara Credit Cooperative Society, Saharayn Universal Multipurpose Society, Humara India Credit Cooperative Society and Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
Why Was the Sahara Refund Process Delayed?
The refund process faced disruption after the Sahara cooperative societies encountered several operational and administrative difficulties.
These included problems related to IT infrastructure, software licences, hardware maintenance, annual maintenance contracts and manpower.
The Ministry of Cooperation intervened to address these issues and restore the systems required for claim verification.
The CRCS-Sahara refund mechanism is digital, paperless and verification-based.
Claims are checked through Aadhaar e-KYC along with depositor, membership and bank-account details available with the societies.
How Depositors Can Check Their Refund Claim
Depositors should use only the official CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal to submit fresh claims or follow the prescribed process for pending applications.
Claims are checked against deposit certificates, receipts and other required documents.
Once the information is successfully verified, the eligible refund is credited directly to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
Depositors whose applications contain deficiencies may be asked to correct or resubmit information through the designated resubmission process.
What Sahara Depositors Should Keep in Mind
The government has advised depositors to avoid unauthorised websites, agents or intermediaries claiming to process Sahara refunds.
The refund system was originally launched in July 2023 following the Supreme Court’s directions to facilitate the return of legitimate deposits to genuine members of the four cooperative societies.
With the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal now operational again, pending claims can move ahead through the verification process.
However, refund payment will depend on successful verification and eligibility rather than simply submitting a claim.
