The Rajasthan government has announced new rules for updating Jan Aadhaar cards, which will come into effect from June 1, 2026.
These changes aim to make the system more transparent, reduce misuse, and control repeated or unnecessary updates.
After the new rules start, every correction or update will need to be done within a fixed timeframe and may also require a fee.
Limited Chances and Careful Data Entry Needed
Under the new system, citizens will need to be extra careful while entering their details in Jan Aadhaar. Once the information is submitted, there will be limited chances to correct mistakes.
This means users must carefully verify all documents and details before making any updates to avoid future problems.
The government has also introduced strict limits on how many times certain personal details can be changed.
Rules and Charges for Personal Information Updates
Several important personal details can now be updated only twice:
Father’s name, mother’s name, spouse’s name
Marital status and minority category
The first update will be free, but the second update will cost ₹15.
For other details, the rules are slightly different:
Education and income details: can be updated twice per financial year (₹25 for the second update)
Bank account details: allowed twice per year (₹40 fee for the second update)
Family Changes and Other Services
For changes like family division or changing the head of the family, updates will be allowed up to five times. After the first update, each change will cost ₹25. Some other Jan Aadhaar-related services will also have a ₹25 fee per update.
However, some important services will remain completely free:
New Jan Aadhaar enrollment
Adding a new family member
Removing a name after death
Downloading e-Jan Aadhaar
The government has also clarified that even if changes are made through an SSO ID, users must still follow the same rules and fee structure.
