Bank employees have received a Dearness Allowance (DA) hike, bringing some relief to their monthly income. The DA has now been increased from 25% to 25.70%, marking a rise of 0.70%.

This revision is based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for the first three months of 2026. Since DA is calculated on the basic salary, even a small increase directly boosts the take-home salary of employees.

Salary Increase Across Different Levels

The impact of this DA hike can be seen across all pay scales. Employees at the starting level (Stage 1 of Scale I) with a basic salary of ₹48,480 will see an increase of around ₹435, taking their DA to approximately ₹15,979.

At Stage 10, where the basic salary is ₹67,160, employees will get an additional ₹601 per month. This means a noticeable improvement in monthly earnings, especially for mid-level staff.

Higher Stages Also Benefit

Employees at higher stages will also benefit from this revision. At Stage 15, with a basic salary of ₹80,560, the salary will increase by about ₹719.

For those at Stage 20 earning ₹93,960, the increase will be around ₹838. Meanwhile, employees at the top level (Stage 25) with a basic salary of ₹108,260 will see a rise of nearly ₹965 per month.

Comparison with Central Government Employees

Although this hike brings some relief, it is slightly lower compared to central government employees. Recently, the government increased DA for its employees from 58% to 60%, which is a 2% hike.

Even though the increase for bank employees is smaller, it still adds extra income and helps in managing rising expenses.
