Infosys has expanded its return-to-office (RTO) policy, asking more employees to work from the office regularly.

Now, employees at job level 6A and above must come to the office at least four days a week.

Earlier, this rule applied only to level 7 and higher roles, such as delivery managers and senior executives.

The update shows that the company is gradually tightening its hybrid work model.

Senior Employees Asked to Lead by Example

According to an internal communication reported by The Economic Times, the company wants senior employees to set the right example for their teams.

The email highlighted that regular office presence helps with self-development, teamwork, innovation, and better business delivery.

Employees at level 6 and above are expected to complete at least 10 office days every month.

The company has also advised employees to spread these office days across different weeks, instead of working many days in one stretch.

HR teams will track attendance through monthly reviews to ensure employees follow the policy.

Part of Infosys’ Hybrid Work Strategy

This move is part of Infosys’ broader strategy to maintain a balanced hybrid work model after the pandemic.

During the company’s January earnings call, CEO Salil Parekh said the company continues to focus on flexibility while encouraging in-person collaboration.

Earlier policies allowed employees to choose any 10 days in a month for office work.

However, the new approach encourages more consistent office attendance.

IT Industry Moving Toward More Office Work

Infosys is not alone in tightening work-from-office rules.

Other major IT companies are also introducing stricter policies.

Wipro requires employees to work three days from the office with at least six hours per day.

Tata Consultancy Services has implemented a five-day office rule, linking attendance to variable pay.

Experts say these changes are happening due to economic pressures, rising competition, and the need for faster collaboration, especially with growing AI-driven projects.

As companies adapt to new market conditions, many are trying to increase productivity through in-person teamwork, while still keeping some benefits of hybrid work.
