Vehicle owners in Pune need to take note.

The Pune Traffic Police have issued a final warning to motorists who still have unpaid e-challan traffic fines.

According to officials, people who receive a notice must pay their pending fines within 30 days.

If they fail to do so, strict action may follow, including suspension of their driving licence and court proceedings.

The traffic department has already started sending official notices to defaulters.

This step comes after authorities found a large number of traffic fines across the city still unpaid.

Why the Police Are Taking Strict Action

Traffic officials say many motorists ignore e-challans after committing traffic violations.

This not only weakens enforcement but also affects road safety and discipline.

To address this issue, the traffic branch has launched a special drive to recover pending fines.

The initiative is being led by Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil.

Initially, the focus is on vehicle owners who have long-pending traffic fines. By sending formal notices, the police hope to ensure that motorists clear their dues quickly.

What Happens If You Don’t Pay Within 30 Days

Ignoring the notice can lead to serious consequences.

If the fine is not paid within the given time, the case may be forwarded to the Regional Transport Office.

The RTO can then suspend the driver’s licence, and the matter may also be taken to court for legal action.

Officials have urged citizens to cooperate and clear their fines to avoid unnecessary legal trouble.

How You Will Receive the Notice

The traffic police are sending alerts through SMS from the official sender ID “MHPECH-G” to the registered mobile number of the vehicle owner.

This special enforcement campaign started on February 26 and runs until March 1.

After receiving the notice, vehicle owners will have 30 days to clear their fines.

How to Pay Your Pending Traffic Fine

Motorists can easily pay their e-challans through multiple options.

The easiest method is by visiting the official Maharashtra traffic e-challan website:

Apart from the website, people can also use the Pune Traffic Police mobile app or visit the nearest traffic police office to make the payment in person.

At the offices, payments can be made using QR codes, debit cards, or credit cards, making the process quick and secure.

Officials say clearing fines on time will help avoid licence suspension and also contribute to safer roads and better traffic discipline in Pune.
