Planning to visit multiple European countries? A Schengen visa can make your travel much simpler.
This visa allows you to enter and move freely across 29 European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, and Greece.
Beyond these, a Schengen visa also opens doors to several other countries without needing additional visas.
Keep in mind, though, that getting a Schengen visa requires strict checks, so it’s not something you can get casually.
Countries You Can Visit with a Schengen Visa
With a Schengen visa, you can travel to countries like Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Greece, Portugal, and many more.
Additionally, it allows visa-free entry to several non-Schengen countries, including South Korea, Mexico, Colombia, Serbia, the Philippines, and Georgia.
However, you cannot enter Ireland or the United Kingdom with a Schengen visa.
Documents You’ll Need
To apply for a Schengen visa, make sure you have:
A passport valid for at least three months from your travel date
Round-trip flight tickets
Hotel bookings or accommodation details
Travel insurance with at least 30,000 euros coverage
Bank statements from the last 3–6 months
Income tax returns (ITRs) from the last 2–3 years
Where to Apply
You should apply at the embassy of the country where you’ll spend the longest time.
If your stay is equally divided among countries, apply to the embassy of the country you enter first
This ensures your application follows the correct rules and avoids unnecessary delays.
