Big relief for ration card holders in Uttar Pradesh.

From March onwards, residents can now access their rations using Aadhaar cards, even if their physical ration card is lost or missing.

This step aims to make food distribution easier and more accessible for everyone.

How the New System Works

The government has instructed all District Supply Officers to update the distribution e-pass machines.

Now, beneficiaries can receive rations by simply providing their Aadhaar card number.

This will help people who have lost their ration cards or are away for work, ensuring they do not miss out on essential supplies.

Problems Addressed by the Change

Earlier, people often faced difficulties if their ration cards were misplaced or unavailable during distribution. Workers who were away from home sometimes could not get their rations.

With Aadhaar-based verification, these issues will be resolved.

The system ensures that eligibility is linked directly to the individual, not just the ration card.

Other Improvements in the Public Distribution System

The system has become more modern and transparent:

Digitized ration cards make record-keeping easier

Electronic weighing scales prevent tampering or fraud

Thumb impression verification on e-pass machines replaces signatures for added security

This modernization aims to ensure fair and smooth distribution of rations while reducing delays and misuse.

This is a significant step toward a more efficient and people-friendly ration system in Uttar Pradesh.
