The biggest update is the new Time Limit feature for YouTube Shorts. With this feature, parents can decide how long their child can watch Shorts in a day. The available limits range from 15 minutes to 2 hours.

Soon, YouTube will also introduce a “Zero Minutes” option, which will allow parents to completely turn off Shorts. This can be useful during homework time, nap time, or other important activities.

Custom Bedtime and “Take a Break” Reminders

YouTube has also improved its Bedtime and Take a Break reminder features. These options were already available earlier but have now been enhanced for users under the age of 18.

Parents can set specific times when their child should stop watching videos at night or take regular breaks. This helps children maintain a healthy balance between screen time, rest, and daily activities.

Improved Content Quality for Teen Viewers

Along with time controls, YouTube has introduced a new content blueprint focused on teen users.

The goal of this update is to ensure that teens are shown age-appropriate and high-quality content, reducing exposure to unsuitable videos.
