Ayush Bima: DFS Introduces Optional Health Insurance for CGHS Members

The Department of Financial Services (DFS), under the Ministry of Finance, has launched Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima.

This optional health insurance plan is designed to provide enhanced medical coverage for CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) beneficiaries. It expands the scope of existing CGHS facilities to ensure better healthcare support.

The plan will soon be available as a retail product through New India Assurance Company Limited offices and online platforms.

New India Assurance is a government-owned general insurance company managed by the Ministry of Finance.

Key Features of Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima

Optional Health Insurance: Exclusive to CGHS beneficiaries, covering up to six family members under a single policy.

Cashless Treatment: Available at a large network of hospitals across India.

Coverage Amount: Hospitalization coverage up to ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh.

Indemnity-Based Hospital Coverage: For treatments at network hospitals nationwide.

Flexible Co-Payment Options: Beneficiaries can choose 70:30 or 50:50 co-payment between the insurance company and the subscriber.

Hospital Room Limits: Room rent is capped at 1% of the sum insured, and ICU at 2%.

Pre- and Post-Hospitalization: Covers 30 days before hospitalization and 60 days after discharge.

AYUSH Treatments: Inpatient care for AYUSH treatments is covered up to 100% of the sum insured.

Modern Treatments: Coverage for modern treatments is initially 25% of the sum insured, which can be increased to 100% via an optional rider.

No-Claim Bonus: A cumulative bonus of 10% per claim-free year, up to a maximum of 100% of the sum insured.

How It Stands Out

Discounted Premiums: 28% discount under the 70:30 option and 42% discount under the 50:50 option.

No GST: This policy is exempt from GST, making it more affordable for subscribers.
