During festivals and holiday seasons, railway stations often turn into crowded chaos.
Long queues at ticket counters waste time, drain energy, and create unnecessary stress.
Understanding this daily struggle, Indian Railways has taken a major step to make ticket booking easier for passengers.
The Delhi Division of Northern Railway has introduced a new facility that brings train ticket booking closer to home.
Soon, passengers will be able to buy reserved, unreserved, and even platform tickets from authorized shops in their own neighbourhoods.
Train Tickets Now Available Near Your Home
Indian Railways is setting up Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendras (YTSKs) across different areas of the Delhi Division.
These centres will allow passengers to buy confirmed tickets, general tickets, and platform tickets without visiting a crowded railway station.
This move will benefit millions of passengers travelling to states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand.
Whether it is a superfast train or a passenger train, ticket booking will soon be possible at a nearby shop.
Who Can Open These Ticket Centres
Northern Railway has invited applications to open YTSKs.
Only railway- and IRCTC-authorized ticket agents are eligible to apply.
For existing agents, this is a strong opportunity to expand their business.
The last date to apply is January 30, 2026.
Interested applicants can check eligibility rules and conditions on the official Northern Railway website.
Applications can also be submitted online by email before 3:00 PM on January 30.
Late applications will not be accepted.
How This Will Help Common Passengers
The biggest benefit is time-saving. Passengers will no longer need to travel long distances just to buy a ticket.
Ticket counters will be available in local markets and residential areas.
Another major advantage is access to all types of tickets in one place.
Unlike small agents who usually book only e-tickets, YTSKs will issue reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets.
This means passenger train tickets will also be easily available nearby.
Since these centres are officially authorised, passengers will not have to worry about overcharging or fraud.
Tickets will be issued at railway-approved prices with full transparency.
A Step Towards Last-Mile Connectivity
For many daily wage workers, visiting a railway station means losing a full day’s income. With ticket centres close to home, they can save both time and money.
This initiative strengthens the idea of last-mile connectivity, where essential services reach people at their doorstep.
Indian Railways is not just expanding its network but also showing sensitivity towards the needs of the common man.
Along with improving passenger convenience, this initiative will also create local employment opportunities.
As 2026 approaches, projects like this show that Indian Railways is focusing on accessibility, efficiency, and people-first solutions.
This change is set to make travel simpler, faster, and more humane for millions.
