With the growing use of digital payments, cases of online fraud are increasing rapidly. To deal with this issue, Axis Bank has introduced a new feature called ‘Safety Center’ on its mobile banking app ‘Open’.

This Safety Center works as a security hub that allows customers to control their banking activities in real time and protect their accounts before any suspicious activity takes place.

What Is Axis Bank’s Safety Center?

The Safety Center is designed to help customers manage their account security quickly and easily, without calling customer care or visiting a bank branch.

Through this feature, users can turn digital banking services on or off based on their needs. It is especially useful if a customer suspects fraud or wants to temporarily stop online transactions.

Identify Fake Messages Using SMS Shield

One of the key features of the Safety Center is SMS Shield. This tool checks bank messages by matching the sender ID with Axis Bank’s official ID.

This helps customers easily identify fake or scam messages and protects them from fraud caused by misleading SMS alerts.

Full Control Over Digital Transactions

The Safety Center gives customers complete control over their digital banking activities. Users can:

Disable internet banking

Block fund transfers

Limit or stop UPI payments

Restrict the addition of new payees, allowing transfers only to existing payees

Set limits on transactions and UPI payments

Require extra authentication for high-value transactions

These controls help reduce the chances of unauthorized transactions.

Safety Settings Apply Instantly

A major advantage of the Safety Center is that any changes made are applied immediately. There is no waiting or processing time.

This instant action helps reduce the risk of digital fraud and removes the need to depend on bank branches or call centers for urgent security measures.

Real-Time Control for Safer Banking

Commenting on the launch, Sameer Shetty, Group Executive – Digital Business, Transformation

and Strategic Programs, Axis Bank, said that the Safety Center gives customers real-time control over their banking security. Features like SMS Shield and in-app mobile OTP make digital banking safer and more convenient.

He added that this initiative is a strong step toward fighting the rising problem of digital fraud. Earlier, Axis Bank had also introduced features such as ‘Lock FD’

and ‘In-App Mobile OTP’ under its Safe Banking initiative, aimed at improving customer safety and reducing fraud through digital channels.
