From today, many car companies have increased the prices of their vehicles. Most manufacturers had already announced price hike alerts in December. As a result, buyers will now have to pay more to purchase new cars.
Last year, customers got some relief due to a GST cut, but the effect of that benefit will now be reduced because of these price hikes.
It is important to note that car companies usually revise prices at the beginning of every calendar year. The new prices are applicable from January 1, 2026. Let’s look at the details brand by brand.
Mercedes-Benz Price Hike Details
Mercedes-Benz has increased its ex-showroom prices by up to 2% across its entire range from January 1, 2026. The company says the hike is due to higher input costs, increased logistics expenses,
and an unfavourable Euro–Rupee exchange rate. Mercedes is also considering quarterly price revisions to manage currency fluctuations better.
Because of the 2% hike, the GLS will become costlier by around ₹2.64 lakh to ₹2.68 lakh, which is still much lower than the earlier GST 2.0 price cut of ₹9.4 lakh to ₹9.6 lakh.
The E-Class will see a price increase of about ₹1.57 lakh to ₹1.83 lakh, compared to an earlier reduction of ₹4.5 lakh to ₹5.25 lakh.
BMW Announces Another Price Increase
BMW had already raised prices by up to 3% in September 2025. Now, another price hike has come into effect from January 1, 2026.
The company has cited higher material and logistics costs, along with the impact of a weakening Indian rupee on foreign exchange.
This price hike applies to both CKD and CBU models. Due to the 3% increase, the BMW 3 Series will become costlier by around ₹1.81 lakh to ₹1.85 lakh, which is still lower than the earlier price reduction of ₹3.45 lakh to ₹3.55 lakh.
BYD Revises Sealion 7 Prices

The company has not shared the reason for the price hike or the exact amount of the increase.
