OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has launched a new AI tool called ChatGPT Images, designed for creating images quickly and easily.
This comes as a competitor to Google’s popular Nano Banana tool, which many users in India have been using for AI-generated images.
What is ChatGPT Images?
ChatGPT Images is OpenAI’s flagship image generation model, introduced as GPT Image 1.5. Just like Google’s Nano Banana, it allows users to generate images from scratch.
The tool is available both in the ChatGPT app and through the browser, and it includes a special “Images” tab for creating and managing images.
OpenAI claims the tool can edit images accurately while keeping details intact and can generate images four times faster than before.
Why ChatGPT Images Was Launched
The launch comes amid growing competition from Google in the AI space.
With the release of Google Gemini 3 and the popularity of Nano Banana, OpenAI aims to strengthen its position in AI image generation.
The tool also includes features tailored for Indian users, such as styles inspired by Bollywood posters, festivals, Navratri, Mithila art, and saree landscapes.
