Indian Railways is making it easier for genuine passengers to book tickets, especially Tatkal tickets.
According to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, around 30.2 million suspicious user accounts have been deactivated.
This action is part of a larger effort to make the ticket booking system fair and smooth.
Since January 2025, accounts have been carefully re-evaluated to ensure only real passengers can book tickets.
OTP Verification and Anti-Bot Measures
To prevent ticket misuse, Railways has introduced anti-bot technology and one-time password (OTP) verification.
These steps help block fraudulent users and make ticket booking faster for genuine travelers.
By December 4, 2025, OTP verification became mandatory on 322 trains, leading to a 65% increase in Tatkal ticket availability on these trains.
Aadhaar-Based Verification for Faster Booking
Railways is also using Aadhaar-based OTP verification at reservation counters.
As of December 4, this system is active for 211 trains, improving ticket availability on 95% of the 96 major trains.
This digital system reduces the need for middlemen, making booking quicker and more transparent for passengers.
Strengthening Cybersecurity
RailTel Corporation of India Limited is working to protect the Railways’ digital systems.
They are monitoring threats, tracking activity on the deep and dark web, and offering digital risk protection.
These measures help Railways respond proactively to any cyber threats and keep passenger data secure.
Digital Reforms Make Booking Easier
In recent years, Railways has modernized ticket booking with Aadhaar linking and digital systems.
Tatkal ticket booking is now faster, more transparent, and less dependent on agents.
Anti-bot measures and OTP verification have further reduced fraudulent bookings, ensuring genuine passengers get a fair chance.
