IndiGo Crisis: Free cancellations, Refunds, and Relief announced

India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is going through its most severe operational crisis to date.

Over the past few days, passengers across the country have faced major disruptions—flight cancellations, long delays, crowded airports, crying children, and helpless families waiting for updates.

Thousands of travelers have had their plans interrupted, and many have missed important meetings, exams, and even medical appointments.

In the middle of this chaos, IndiGo has finally taken a major step and announced relief measures for passengers.

IndiGo shared a public statement on X (formerly Twitter), apologizing to passengers and acknowledging that the situation has been extremely difficult.

The airline admitted that the issue cannot be fixed instantly, but it is working at full capacity to reset systems and stabilize operations.

IndiGo said December 5 saw the highest number of cancellations as it was rebooting its schedules to start improvements from the next day.

Relief Measures Announced for Passengers

IndiGo has launched several support facilities for affected travelers, including:

Automatic refunds for all cancelled flights, credited back to the original payment method.

Free cancellation and rescheduling for all bookings made between December 5, 2025, and December 15, 2025.

Thousands of hotel rooms and surface transport arrangements in major cities.

Food and snacks provided to passengers stranded at airports.

Lounge access for senior citizens wherever possible.

Indigo Requests Passenger Cooperation

The airline has urged passengers to check their flight status through the official website or notifications. If a flight is cancelled, passengers are advised not to travel to the airport.

IndiGo has increased customer care capacity to handle the surge in calls.

Passengers can also use IndiGo’s AI assistant, “6Eskai,” for information related to refunds, flight status, and rebooking.

A Big Crisis, But Big Relief Efforts Too

IndiGo has made it clear that this crisis will not be resolved overnight. Restoring operations fully will take time, but continuous efforts are underway.

The company has assured passengers that the situation will gradually improve in the coming days.
