Link PAN with Aadhaar Before Dec 31, 2025

The government has announced that the last date to link PAN and Aadhaar is December 31, 2025.

If someone does not link these two documents by this date, their PAN will become inoperative.

An inoperative PAN means the person will not be able to file income tax returns, and all tax-related activities will stop.

A PAN is a 10-digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department.

It is used to track all financial and tax-related transactions of a person. If the PAN becomes inoperative, it can create major financial issues.

Why Linking PAN-Aadhaar Is Necessary

The CBDT has stated that anyone who received an Aadhaar card before October 1, 2025, must link their PAN and Aadhaar by December 31, 2025. If they fail to do so, the Income Tax Department will block all related services.

If your PAN becomes inoperative:

You cannot file income tax returns.

Pending returns will not be processed.

Refunds will not be issued.

Any return under correction will be stopped.

TDS/TCS will be deducted at a higher rate because your PAN will be treated as invalid.

This is why the government is repeatedly reminding citizens to link PAN and Aadhaar on time.
