IPPB Partners with EPFO for doorstep Digital Life Certificate

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has joined hands with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to provide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) services directly at the doorstep of pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995.

This initiative will allow pensioners to submit their life certificates from home, without visiting banks or EPFO offices, making the process faster and more convenient.

How the Doorstep Service Works

IPPB, a 100% government-owned bank, will use its vast network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and more than 3 lakh postal service providers, including postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks, to reach pensioners.

These postal workers are equipped with digital banking devices and biometric authentication tools like fingerprint scanners and face recognition technology.

This ensures secure and seamless submission of Digital Life Certificates right from the pensioners’ homes.

The service is completely free, with all costs borne by EPFO.

Once the certificate is generated, pensioners receive a confirmation SMS, and the certificate can be viewed online the next day.

Benefits and Government Vision

R Viswesvaran, MD & CEO of IPPB, said the partnership supports IPPB’s mission to bring essential financial services to every doorstep in India.

The initiative is particularly beneficial for pensioners in rural and semi-urban areas, offering dignity, convenience, and faster service.

This move aligns with the government’s Digital India and Ease of Living initiatives, using technology and postal infrastructure to provide inclusive services for senior citizens.

IPPB first introduced the doorstep Digital Life Certificate service in 2020, allowing pensioners to generate Jeevan Pramaan using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, reducing the time and effort involved in obtaining life certificates.
