Razorpay Update: Have you ever forgotten your credit or debit card PIN or faced issues receiving OTPs during payment? You no longer need to worry.
Soon, you won’t need an OTP or PIN to complete card transactions. Payment service provider Razorpay has introduced a new biometric authentication system that removes the need for OTPs during card payments.
This new feature, launched in partnership with Yes Bank, was announced by Razorpay CEO Harshil Mathur at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025.
Why Razorpay Introduced This Feature
Mathur explained that traditional card payments required entering an OTP or PIN, but many transactions failed because OTPs often arrived late or didn’t arrive at all due to network issues. “
One of the main problems with OTPs is that they sometimes don’t come on time, leading to around 5–10% of failed payments,” he said.
How the New System Works
To solve this problem, Razorpay has introduced a biometric verification option. Now, instead of entering an OTP, customers can authenticate the payment using Face ID or fingerprint.
“When you make a card payment, simply show your face, and the transaction will be verified through Face ID. If your phone has a fingerprint sensor, it will use that,” Mathur explained.
He added that this new system brings two major benefits — higher security and better success rates for transactions.
“It’s more secure and improves the overall success rate. This is the next generation of payments that will not only make transactions easier in India but also help the country lead globally in payment innovation,” he said.
A Step Forward for Digital Payments
This launch is another milestone in India’s growing digital payments ecosystem, highlighting the fintech industry’s focus on security, innovation, and user convenience.
Razorpay’s biometric system aims to make card payments faster, safer, and more reliable than ever before.
