SBI Card has announced a major change. The company will stop offering the free air accident insurance cover on several co-branded credit cards starting August 11, 2025.
Until now, selected ELITE and PRIME credit cards offered air accident insurance of ₹1 crore or ₹50 lakh.
These cards were issued in partnership with banks like UCO Bank, Central Bank, PSB, Karur Vysya Bank, Allahabad Bank, and others. However, this benefit will soon be discontinued.
Cards That Will Lose ₹1 Crore Insurance Cover
The following credit cards will no longer have the ₹1 crore air accident insurance:
Karnataka Bank SBI Card Prime
Karnataka Bank SBI Platinum Credit Card
City Union Bank SBI Card Prime
Allahabad Bank SBI Card Prime
United Bank of India (UBI) SBI Platinum Credit Card
Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) SBI Visa Platinum Card
Federal Bank SBI Platinum Credit Card
Bank of Maharashtra (BOM) SBI Platinum Credit Card
Billing and Payment System Changes from July 15
SBI Card has also introduced changes to the billing process starting July 15, 2025. Now, the minimum amount due will include:
Full GST amount
Any EMIs
Fees and finance charges
Overlimit amount
2% of the remaining outstanding bill
New Payment Adjustment Rules
The order in which your payments will be applied has also changed. Now, any payment you make will be adjusted in this order:
GST
EMI
Fees and charges
Finance charges
Balance transfer
Retail purchases
Cash advance
