The merger of Tata Group’s Air India and Vistara has been successfully completed. Now, Air India is focusing on improving its network.
To enhance the passenger experience, Air India will deploy Vistara’s A320 aircraft on five major metro-to-metro routes, including Delhi-Mumbai and Mumbai-Hyderabad.
This initiative ensures passengers enjoy the same luxury experience previously offered by Vistara on these routes.
Enhanced Flight Experience with A320neo Aircraft
Vistara’s A320neo aircraft, equipped with three cabin classes—business, premium economy, and economy—will be used on these routes.
All flights will operate under Air India’s AI flight number, providing a seamless travel experience.
The new schedule, carefully planned by Air India, offers passengers more options and greater flexibility.
Air India currently operates more than 100 weekly flights on these metro routes.
The schedule includes 56 daily flights between Delhi and Mumbai and 24 daily flights between Delhi and Hyderabad.
The five key metro-to-metro routes are Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bangalore, Delhi-Hyderabad, Mumbai-Bangalore, and Mumbai-Hyderabad.
More Facilities and Future Expansion
Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson stated that the merger aims to provide better services to passengers. Travelers on these routes will enjoy a premium flight experience.
He added that Air India plans to expand its coverage gradually and introduce new aircraft by 2025 while renewing its existing fleet.
Transition Details After the Merger
The merger between Air India and Vistara took place on November 12. Following this, Vistara’s luxury flights are now operated under Air India, with ticket bookings available on Air India’s website.
Around 2.7 lakh tickets of Vistara passengers have been transferred to Air India, along with loyalty programs being integrated into the Maharaja Club.
Air India now stands as the only domestic airline offering both full-service and low-cost passenger services. Additionally, its share of international routes has grown to over 50%.
