Like every month, some new rules and price changes will come into effect from the 1st of September. These changes can directly impact the pockets of common people.
This time too, from credit card charges to LPG and CNG prices, several updates are expected. Let’s take a look at the five major changes that will begin on September 1, 2025.
Credit Card Rules
The State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest bank, has announced new rules for its credit card customers.
From September 1, 2025, reward points will no longer be available on certain transactions, including payments made on digital gaming platforms, merchant payments,
and government-related transactions. Millions of SBI cardholders who were earlier benefiting from rewards on these spends will now be affected.
LPG Gas Cylinder Prices
Like every month, LPG cylinder prices are expected to change on September 1, 2025.
On August 1, the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder was reduced by ₹33.50, while domestic cylinder rates remained the same.
This time, there is hope that domestic LPG cylinders may become cheaper, bringing some relief to household budgets.
Silver Hallmarking
The government is planning to introduce a new rule for silver jewelry hallmarking starting September 1, 2025.
Initially, this will be voluntary, meaning customers can choose whether to buy hallmarked or non-hallmarked silver jewelry.
This step is aimed at ensuring purity and trust in silver ornaments.
Post Office Services Update
A major change is also coming to postal services. From September 1, 2025, registered post will be merged with speed post services.
This means that if you send a registered letter after this date, it will automatically be sent through speed post. The separate registered post service will no longer exist.
Change in CNG and PNG Prices
Like LPG, the prices of CNG and PNG are also revised regularly. Although they have remained stable for some time, there is a possibility of a change in their rates in September 2025.
Any hike or reduction will directly affect household and transport expenses.
