Certain rules and price changes come into effect on the first day of every month, and March is no different. From March 1, 2026, several important changes have been implemented across the country.
These updates affect everyone — from common citizens to business owners.
The changes include higher LPG cylinder prices, increased aviation turbine fuel (ATF) rates, SIM-binding rules for messaging apps, and new railway ticket booking rules.
Here is a simple explanation of all the changes:
LPG Cylinder Prices Increased
From March 1, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has gone up by ₹28 to ₹31.
According to the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the new prices of a 19-kg Indane LPG cylinder are:
Delhi: ₹1,768.50
Kolkata: ₹1,875.50
Mumbai: ₹1,720.50
Chennai: ₹1,929
This increase directly impacts hotels, restaurants, and small businesses that use commercial LPG cylinders.
Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) Prices Also Increased
Oil marketing companies have also raised the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), which is used in aircraft.
The new ATF prices are:
Delhi: Increased by ₹5,244.75 to ₹96,638.14 per kilolitre
Kolkata: Increased by ₹5,141.52 to ₹99,587.14 per kilolitre
Mumbai: Increased by ₹4,977.24 to ₹90,451.87 per kilolitre
Chennai: Increased by ₹5,498.50 to ₹1,00,280.49 per kilolitre
This price hike could affect airline operating costs and possibly airfares.
SIM-Binding Rule for Messaging Apps
Starting March 1, SIM-binding has been implemented.
Under this rule, apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal can only be used if the SIM card used during registration is inserted and active in the mobile phone.
If the registered SIM card is not present in the phone, users will not be able to access these apps using that number.
New Train Ticket Booking Rules
Indian Railways has introduced changes in ticket booking rules.
To book general tickets, platform tickets, and season tickets, passengers must now use the Railways’ new app called Indian Railways Rail One.
The old Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) app has been discontinued. However, users can transfer the money available in their UTS wallet to the new Rail One app.
