Announcement Made on Truth Social

Trump announced the launch of the card on his social media platform, Truth Social.

He posted, “The Trump Card is here for $5 million! Thousands of people are asking how they can be part of the world’s greatest country and market.”

No Guaranteed Entry or Citizenship

The website mentions that applicants will be notified once the process begins. However, holding this card does not guarantee entry to the US or immediate citizenship.

Applicants can choose from eight regions when registering: Europe, Asia (including the Middle East), North America, Oceania, Central Area, South America, Caribbean, and Africa.

Trump explained, “This is like a Green Card, but more special.” The Trump administration added that the card doesn’t require Congress approval, as it doesn’t directly provide citizenship.

To become a US citizen, one must first be a legal permanent resident for five years, meet age and language requirements, and have a clean legal record.

New Alternative to the EB-5 Visa

The Trump Card has been presented as a new option alongside the EB-5 investor visa program.

Under EB-5, foreigners can get a Green Card by investing $800,000 to $1.05 million in projects that generate jobs in the US. Trump announced the card after delays and fraud issues in the EB-5 program.

In February, Trump said, “Rich people will buy this card and come to our country. They are wealthy, successful, and will spend big.

They will pay high taxes and create many jobs.” He added that it also gives talented and wealthy individuals a way to gain citizenship, as they can sponsor the entry of skilled people through their payment.

Benefits of the Trump Card

The biggest benefit for Trump Card holders is the tax rule. Unlike Green Card holders, who must pay tax on their global income, Trump Card holders will only be taxed on their US income.

This makes the card attractive to those avoiding US residency due to worldwide tax rules.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick shared that 1,000 cards were sold in a single day before the official program launch.

It is estimated that around 37 million people worldwide could be eligible to purchase the Trump Card.
